泰勒·彼得斯是一位电视节目制作人。身处娱乐圈的他曾经沾染过吸毒的恶习，如今又沉迷于其它的两个“爱好”——酗酒和赌博。可以说，泰勒具备了“天将降大任于是人也”的诸多条件：比如赌运奇差造成的“苦其心志”，比如输得精光后的“空乏其身”，再比如酗酒之后的“乱其所为”……总之，他的生活一团糟，可此时，泰勒妻子的姐姐又遇到了严重的家庭危机：她年仅20岁的女儿，也就是泰勒的外甥女阿曼达，走上了一条“堕落”之路，她在拉斯维加斯做了一名脱衣舞女郎。泰勒·彼得斯被妻子勒令去拉斯维加斯解决这个难题，帮助阿曼达重新回到正常的生活。对于这个impossiblemission，泰勒充满了抵触情绪，可是有“世界娱乐之都”之称的赌城拉斯维加斯却很合他的胃口：他出入于高档酒店，流连于时尚酒吧，并在赌场上延续自己的不赢神话。不过在妻子的压力之下，他还是找到了外甥女阿曼达。泰勒发现阿曼达已经被拉斯维加斯纸醉金迷的氛围深深浸染，终日衣着暴露的她没有在姨夫面前为自己的工作感到羞愧，而一身毛病的泰勒也无法让阿曼达产生悔改之心，甚至他自己就因赌债而惹出了不尽的麻烦。拉斯维加斯让人堕落，拉斯维加斯也让人觉醒。拜金热潮下的人情冷漠最终让他们发现了亲情的可贵，泰勒·彼得斯决心用实际行动同阿曼达一起改正身上的缺点，阿曼达也开始设计自己崭新、美好的新生活。
