家驹（黄家驹 饰）、自强（黄家强 饰）、世荣（叶世荣 饰）以及贯中（黄贯中 饰）四个年青人自组乐队，醉心于音乐，但他们每个人都有自己的梦想。世荣深爱女友马莉（王菲 饰），但身为医学教授的未来岳父加能却不赞同他从事音乐，加能固执的令晕血的世荣进入医科学习；梦想成为警察的贯中因身体素质不过关，全靠诚意打动了警方考官，得以从不起眼的交通督导员做起；家驹一家希望移民美国开餐馆，为了这个目标，全家展开赚钱比赛，家驹身兼数职，一刻不得闲；初入职场的自强豪情万丈，自信能够凭借努力成为第一流的经纪人。四个年青人为了理想打拼，一路经历诸多坎坷欺骗，他们的梦想能否成真？
